Why? 1. A book won’t break up with you 2. A book goes with any outfit 3. Your parents will wonder what you’re up to 4. Books are better shared with others 5. Books look good on your list of extracurricular activities 6. You can create your own virtual reality 7. You burn more calories reading a book than watching TV 8. Books
are great company when waiting for others 9. The book is better than the movie – almost always 10. Books help us see the world through others' eyes
Club Rules:
- Share at least one thought about the book of the week, be respectful of others so they can do the same, and enjoy the time.
- You do not need to attend all meetings or meetings in a row to join. Each discussion is about a different book, so choose books that interest you, or join the conversation when you have the time!
- Food in the library is allowed at lunch for the book club only as long as it doesn't become a mess.
Evergreen YA Award and Voting:
- All selections are 2013 Evergreen Young Adult Book Award Nominees. Our school library has at least 1 copy in print and more available on our Kindles per title. Our public library has more. All titles are available in paperback if you feel like shopping for one.
- The Evergreen Award is given by the King County Library System which selects nominations based on interest and variety from teen recommendations. The winner is selected by teen readers. Maze Runner by James Dashner was the 2012 winner; Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins in 2011. http://www.kcls.org/evergreen/
- Vote for your favorite by March 12th with a library ballot or online. You must read at least 2 books on the list to vote for a favorite; all high school students are eligible.
